This cutie is Rosie; she?s a purebred Boxer who is 8 years old and she is in need of a new loving home.
Her current owners love her dearly, and she loves them, but Rosie does NOT love their pre-existing female boxer, and multiple fights have broken out, forcing her owners to keep her on a leash in the house at all times. That?s no way for a sweet little girl like Rosie to live! Her owners know that, and even though it breaks their hearts to give her up, they know it?s for the best. The owners have really given it their all ? they have worked with multiple trainers and everyone has decided that there is no way Rosie is going to accept the other female.
Rosie is a small, white, deafg, 8yr old female boxer, but other than her being able to sleep through things that drive the other dogs nuts, and needing to have eye contact with her to give her commands (verbal and hand signals), you?d really never know she?s deaf. I don?t think Rosie knows she?s deaf! She?ll ?talk? with you, making Chewbacca noises and waiting for you to make them back at her (she watches your mouth)! And you?d never know she?s 8yrs old ? she can keep up with you on walks and zip around the yard like a nut when given the chance.
She?s been spayed, had all her vaccines, been micro-chipped and had her teeth cleaned. She cooperates beautifully when being bathed, and lets her owners clip and file her nails as needed (with minimal fussing).
She does need to have a completely fenced yard to play in, and needs to be leashed when she?s out of the yard, since she can?t be called back verbally. And she needs to be an INSIDE DOG, as she has short hair. Boxers are not outside dogs ? they aren?t built for the cold weather.
She does need to be an only dog, or possibly an older, calm male dog, as she has no issues with the 14 yr old male hound in her house now, but she will need a slow introduction. But other females are a definite no-no, and young, playful dogs....she?s just better off on her own. No cats as well.
She is house and crate trained. She spends up to 4 hours at a time in the crate when her owners are at work, but when she gets to the end of that time, she?ll often bark to be let out.
She is not the best behaved dog when on walks, but is doing better. She pulls and lunges and barks, but is a work in progress. She has been signed up with Sit Means Sit dog training for personal training sessions for a full year, which run through September, and the training is transferrable to the new owner/s.
She has been recently been introduced to the treadmill in her house and has taken to it really well, keeping her head down and concentrating on walking like she has a goal in mind. It?s great for exercise on snowy days!
This girl LOVES to snuggle, loves to be pet and basically loves people, though it takes her a couple of minutes of barking at new people before she realizes that they?re ok and are just there to give her more petting! She?ll make someone a WONDERFUL companion for many more years. She just needs the right home without the constant stress of a possible fight with her housemate...
