My name is Niya; I just turned 3 in June and am a Boxer/Plott Hound mix. I am an adult-sized puppy with lots of energy and love to give. I want nothing more than to cuddle up next to you during the nights or in the evening times when you?re watching TV. I will chew on a bone if given one, but love to watch from windows and wrestle if I have other dog brothers and sisters.
When my mom isn?t home, I am in my crate because I tend to get up on furniture and chew on things when left alone for a long period of time. I am fully potty trained, but have a small bladder. I can hold it all day, but if it?s too long, I have accidents in the house. I am ok with cats? I am still learning how they operate since I was never really around them before. My one male cat friend was around me since he was a kitten so he and I play all the time together. The other cat, older female, doesn?t let me near her so I just follow her around the house in hopes she?ll let me get close enough to sniff her. So unless I?ve been around a cat since a kitten, sometimes I go a little crazy. I am good with other dogs after a proper introduction. I like to pretend that I am the Alpha, but if there is another Alpha present, I will back down. I like people too, always willing to meet new people. I LOVE kids!! The toddler I lived with used to play with me and run around the house together, it was a lot of fun.
I love playing outside, but need to be kept in a tall, 6 ft. completely fenced yard or else I tend to jump and go for a freedom run. I might not listen to you if you call my name because I want to sniff everything I can, but I will get in the car if you chase me down. I like my food?a LOT! My mom feeds me every day around 7-730 and at night around 5-530. I eat 2 cups in the morning and 2 cups at night. She feeds me Diamond Beef & Rice Adult formula dry food.
I listen to commands really well; I know how to sit, stay, leave it, wait for it, drop it, lay down, and a few others. Sometimes I whine when I see something outside that I want to go check out, but shortly get over it. I have a big girl bark but wouldn?t hurt a fly.
Overall I am in great health. The only issue I have is from my ears since they are so big and floppy. I get what the vet called, ?happy ear?, because when I shake really hard, my ears hit the sides of my collars and split. The vet has given me special ointment to help. It only happens during the summer when it?s really dry outside.
I just want a home that will give me lots of attention, love, time and a playful environment as I have lots of energy and cuddles to give.
