Female Shih Tzu mix for adoption in Boise, Idaho For Sale

Pearl is a 5ish year old Shih Tzu mix who has had a very rough life up to this point. A few months ago she was found as a stray; matted so completely she had a hard time going potty and all the fur on her nose to her 'eyebrows' was one solid knot. Despite the pain she was in she ran right over and begged to be picked her up, tail wagging dancing on two back feet. She snuggled in and showed her belly for a rub, it was clear that someone had loved her once; she was so calm and gentle for a tiny little stray dog. No one ever claimed Pearl and now the woman who found her is no longer able to keep her so Pearl has come to Fuzzy Pawz Rescue to find her true forever home!
Due to Pearl?s history we have found that she can be a bit sensitive to touch. She is not fond of having her face touched overly much, she doesn?t bite but she will shy away if she gets to sensitive. She does not like to be groomed ? she will scream like you are killing her if you brush her face or put her in the tub. So a good groomer with time and patience will be a good thing. You can slowly desensitize Pearl to this type of reaction if you are willing to work with her a little each day. Pearl will need her tail area trimmed often which she is pretty good about and you can do at home. Pearl is in need of a grooming so we posted pictures of her groomed and not groomed.
Pearl has shown that she has a wonderful heart and a joy for life. She is a super sweet, friendly and cuddly little girl who gets along with kids and other dogs. However NO birds in the house for Pearl ? she has found she would rather eat them then listen to them sing. Pearl will also need to go to a home with kids over 10 who can understand Pearl?s touch issues. Pearl is very good with everyone she meets and is just a great little lap dog.
Pearl has been spayed and recently vaccinated. She is house trained, dog door trained (but doesn?t like to use it) and is pretty mellow in the house.
Pearl will be groomed by Ellie at Emerald Street Kennels the week of 12/17/12 ? if you adopt her before she is groomed Ellie will still honor the free groom she offered to the rescue.
