Gisa is a 3 year old Schnauzer mix who came to us from I.H.S. (Idaho Humane Society) where she was having a tough time adjusting to shelter life. Thanks to the wonderful folks at I.H.S. Gisa is a proud graduate of the IDAPI program (Idaho Dog Alliance Project of Idaho) and now she is READY to find her forever home!
She can be shy and timid around new people and on occasion does not like some men. However once she knows you this cutie is a sweet and very sensitive dog who loves to cuddle in your lap if you will let her. She'll sleep with you and cuddle on the couch, which is her favorite place. She loves to give kisses and be with you doing whatever you want. Gisa also thinks she is the protector of the home; be prepared when someone knocks at the door Gisa is going to let you know all about it. Due to Gisa being timid she cannot go to a home with kids under 15.
Gisa is one smart cookie and learned a TON of stuff while in the IDAPI program and she could easily learn anything you want to teach her. She knows: ready, hell, come, sit, down, wait, finish, leave it, off, crate, bang, sit pretty, high five, bow, roll, shake right & left, weave, wave hello/goodbye. Anyone adopting her will have to work on these commands with her to refresh her memory but she enjoys working so it would be fun for both of you.
She is also house trained, crate trained and walks okay on a leash. Gisa does tend to be ?all Schnauzer? on walks and tends to bark at people passing by; again though she is super smart and a few verbal corrections in a consistent manner and this will stop.
Gisa gets along great with other dogs but cannot go to a home with cats; she is super obsessed with ?catching the kitty?.
Gisa is an incredible little dog and would make a great dog for an adults only home.
