California Girl Seeks Idaho Loving in Boise, Idaho For Sale

Minnie is a 5 year old Chihuahua who found herself homeless in California and decided to hitch a ride with some other doggie friends to find her fortune in Boise, Idaho. Fuzzy Pawz Rescue is hoping to help her strike gold with a forever family to call her own.
This cutie is very sweet but she does take a few days to warm up and trust new people; once she does watch out as she will be your BEST friend forever and will shower your face with kisses.
Minnie is a hearty little dog; not too skittish or fragile. She's adorable too, with one ear up and one ear that flops down. Minnie is not needy like a lot of little dogs; she likes to be a lap dog, but she also likes just laying at the other end of the couch. Minnie is comfortable being on her own and not following her people around every moment. She burrows in the covers and wants to sleep under the covers, either at the foot of the bed or spooning with you if allowed. She's quiet and does not really bark much even when other dogs are carrying on.
She has a TON of energy and is very busy. Busy, busy, busy. Not in a bad way. She needs a daily walk to ensure she is properly stimulated. Exercise and play will really help her shine, as will making sure she stays properly socialized with other people. She does like to play with people she knows and trusts--her favorite toy being the flirt pole. She also really likes a good game of "Chase". She enjoys camping and outdoor activities, and can be trusted in camp and on hikes to stay close by. This little dog does not want to be a "purse dog". She's independent and adventurous and is not "mini" in her mind.
As with a lot of dogs who have a really rough start to life Minnie can and will cop a "little dog attitude" if/when she feels threatened. She will need an owner who will be able to make Minnie feel that she doesn't need to control her environment; that you will take care of everything. In her foster home, her strongest bond is with her foster dad who feeds her. She does not give him any trouble at all, but her foster mom gets the "attitude" when Minnie doesn't want to do something (i.e. when she knows it's time to go in her crate in the morning). With some proper training techniques and patience this behavior is easily managed.
She is not completely house trained, but she is crate trained. It takes her a while to go outside and you have to go out with her to make sure she goes. In the cold weather and rain she will not be too eager to go out on her own. With a feeding and potty schedule and a wee bit of patience she will figure it out. We are working on her basic training skills, and she is learning.
Minnie is currently living with 2 dogs and 2 cats and does fine with all of them; however we think she would like to be someone's one and only.
Because she can be a little untrusting at first, she should be in a home without children.
Minnie is microchipped, spayed, vaccinated and will have a dental done before adoption.
